11 Things I Love About dAdeviantART has served us for 11 years already and, no matter when we joined, it definitely changed something for every one of us. Some of us have found friends, others received inspiration to create or improve their skills, or experienced changes in many different personal aspects as well.
So why don't we take a moment for dA's 11th birthday to write a list of 11 things we love about dA? How did it help us? Did it make us grow as artists? Is it fun? What did it get you addicted to?
Your entry can be sincere and profound, as well as silly and fun - it's up to you!

August 7th, 2011 marks deviantART's 11th birthdAy, but in true devious style, we're taking a whole week to celebrate! Our original plans for Deviants Appreciation Day were so huge that there was no possible way to express our love for the community in a mere 24 hours. Instead, we've created Deviants Appreciation Week, and what better time to host a week's worth of community-oriented events than in the days leading up to our birthdAy?

Since that time, we've grown to be the world's largest online art community, but even a site as massive and established as deviantART had to start somewhere. So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognise their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.
Some people have received Seniority because of their artistic endevours, having a positive influence on their peers by sharing resources, providing constructive criticism and by being a voice that stands out above the many others who deviate to be recognised in the crowd.

Recently, I announced changes to Daily Deviations in this journal and I'm happy to say that the response has been favorable.  To review, we have made the following changes:
a> The "3-month rule" is now the "6-month rule" meaning an artist cannot receive another DD if they have had one in the last 6 months.
b> Daily Deviation selectors are limited to a maximum of one selection per day.  This has been put in place to focus on quality vs quantity.
The hard-coding of these new guidelines is now in place (special thanks to $ZombieCoder for that :heart:).

Over the years, we've been proud to offer the opportunity to volunteer with deviantART. We believe that our volunteers play a crucial role in helping our community develop and grow in positive ways.  
The Gallery Moderator (previously known as Gallery Director) and Message Network Admin (MN@) teams have become a much loved and appreciated role, with many volunteers proudly detailing their experience in applications to enter into successful careers with companies who all recognise the value of volunteering in such a vibrant and eclectic community. It's been 11 years since deviantART grew, developed and evolved as a community. Plenty of artists, amateurs and appreciators post their newest works every day. However, many don't get any feedback or reviews, even though  favorites numbers can be bursting.

I usually write big long essays for a few people who request critique, so writing a short overall blurb for a bunch of people was an interesting change of pace. :)

An interesting idea. Nothing I found I would fave... Fun to do though!#A few of the pictures had no comments on and they were a couple of years old. It felt nice to comment, to acknowledge the art/photo/literature the artist/writer created.
